A seeker

HI, everyone!

It has been a comfortable day today. When I walked along a street to go to the station this morning, I could smell a kind of elegant flower, and I found a tree of jintyoge, daphne. There were a bunch of tiny white flowers blooming at a neighboring garden. It has really attractive smell, doesn’t it?

As for the flowers, I was inspired by a TV program last night. ( I usually watch TV while doing household chores.) On the program, a famous flower arrangement teacher Shogo Kariyazaki (?) was preparing for his big events. He was always moving around to search for something beautiful such as fantastic cherry blossoms and a lovely window display, while visiting a lot of places. He took a lot of photographs here and there, and made a picture show of them on his PC. He said that he could absorb the beauty from those pictures, and create his new style on flower arrangement. I found he was a seeker after the beauty.

So, it’s time to go. See you tomorrow, superb flowers…

Dear Cherry and friends,

It is Friday, May 9th. I got "Beioukairanjikki" through Amazon. I feel very happy about it. These days I have a pile of books waiting to be read. It is this circumstances I have been wanted to have. Books are waiting to be read! Every book seems to insist on being read fast. I guess,I need a method of rapid reading. I remember having been taught that English should be read both vertically and horisontally by Plum. When we read English material, our eyes moves horizontally as it is written that way. If eyes vertically moved, we can enjoy reading rapidly. When Japanese material read, vice versa. I hope it effects well. Thank you, Plum. I always appreciate your advice.

Hello, friends. How are you doing?

I went to Modigliani Exhibition with some of my friends. One of my friends works as a volunteer guide at the city museum in Shirakawa park and she was in charge of the guide today.
She explained his life as well as his works. He had a very short life of 35 years, who died of TB.
He was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and very handsome, so he was loved and sopported by many people. He also had many good friends including Picasso who became his model. But his life was not so lucky. At first he aimed to be a sculptor, but he became sick because he inhaled a lot of stone dust, which contributed to his death. He turned to be a painter, which was a kind of success, but short-lived.

Modigliani's last lover and his wife Joannes was painted as the famous portrait of a long face with a long neck, but her real picture was very different. Actually she had a short neck and round face. She lived with him for 3 years while she gave birth to a boy and when he was over one year old, she killed herself by jumping from the window of the apartment soon after Modigliani died, when she was pregnant again. Her son was left behind in the hands of Joannes' aunt.
I became familiar with Modigliani.
I could understand why his painting has a touch of melancholy.

Dear ladies,

It is Saturday, May 10th. It was rainy and a little chilly.

I hear Modigliani hid that he had suffered TB, an infectious disease. He drank or pretended to be drunken so that no one noticed his symptoms and agony. Picaso was the one who suspected his disease. This is what I learned from TV art show. A picture in which both great artists were taken was shown during the program. Modigliani was in the front looked like drunken and crying while Picaso was watching him annoyed. I am always moved by the lives of artists who try to keep balance with reality and art. When the balance is lost, it ends in tradedy without fail, while we call them gifted and their works unique.

As an ordinary citizen, I'd like to live a happy life between security and challenge. Both are important and essential to live a meaningful life.

I took a long nap, so I feel refreshed.

Hello, Cherry and my dear friends.

Hello, Gloriosa. It’s nice to have you on this Blog.

It’s Mother’s Day. I’m a mother and I have my mother.
It's nice to have some presents from my children and to be able to send a gift to my dearest mother.

Have you read a story of Bleak House? Bleak House- BBC www.bbc.co.uk/drama/bleakhouse gives us an episode guide, characters with pictures and episode clips from episode 1 to 15. This is very useful&helpful so I recommend you to access this site.

Plum, thank you for letting me know “An Art Colony for Women”. You reminded me of Aichi seminar in 2003 when I gave a presentation about Sexual Politics by Kate Millet. It is good to know that she is alive and sends us an invitation to the Farm on the site.

Good-night, my dear friends.

Dear Cherry and friends,

Hi! How are you doing?
How have I been doing? I have finished translating my master's thesis into English. This work exhausted me a lot. Today finally I sent it to my former supervisor. I used a delivery service called “meru bin” by takkyubin. This service is available at any Seven Eleven convenience stores. It cost only 80 yen to send more than 30 sheets of A4 size paper. It usually cost 200 yen at the post office.

I read the article about Josephine Butler this evening. As Plum said, it was an impressive story. How dramatic her life was! BBC should make a drama inspired by her social activism. Her story changed my view toward Victorian Christian women.

Good night.
