Warm spring days

Hi, ladies!!

Alice, I got interested in your remark about some failed missionaries. In fact, there must have been many English and American women who could not make a success of their ambitions…How did they spend rest of their life after getting back to their country?

Rose, I also feel happy to hear that you enjoyed such a fantastic weekend in Tokyo with your son. Your detailed description on Tsukiji can make me feel hungry.

Cosmos, congratulations on your 40th marriage anniversary! How do you feel about it now? Feeling long or short??

Recent warm spring days have made me very pleasant and comfortable, even though I still have a popular fear that I would suffer from hay fever suddenly. Strangely, sometimes I get it, sometimes I do not. Anyway, we’d better put on a big mask outside.

So, see you next, good bye…

Hi, ladies!!!
It’s Thursday, March 19, 2009 today. It was cloudy in the morning, but toward noon the weather improved and now it is fairly sunny and warm. A few minutes ago I cut some tiny stems and twigs, which were so fresh green, and put them in a little base in the lounge. I can feel life, energy and even vitality from these diminutive plants.

Cherry, thank your for your interest in female missionaries sent to Japan from England and North America. Most of them were from middle class families and some of them were former teachers. It is very interesting to know why they decided to become foreign missionaries. Their individual motivation was, of course, varied, but I always imagine that their motivation was two-fold. One was public and the other was private. I believe it is very important to look into their private motivation.

Here is a new quiz for you and me. I hope you enjoy doing this quiz before going to bed tonight. It does not take more than 5 minutes.

The article is from the BBC English Learning and the answers are listed below.

Pakistani cricket tour postponed

(1) Pakistan cricket team had been due to tour Bangladesh this month, but the government here now believes that following (2) revolt by (3) paramilitary border guards, it cannot ensure its safety.

The Sports Minister said that (4) tour had been suspended for the time being because (5) law enforcement agencies were busy hunting (6) mutineers who managed to escape. At least 56 senior officers were killed in the mutiny by soldiers of the Bangladesh Rifles. Several hundred are still on (7) run and there are fears some may still have guns.

The army has stepped up (8) security at about a dozen strategic buildings in Dhaka including the official residence of the Prime Minister. The Sports Minister said that it is not possible therefore for the government to provide (9) foolproof security to the touring side. The government has also put on hold all other tours by foreign sports teams.

(10) Decision is another blow to cricket in South Asia. Two weeks ago, the Sri Lankan team was attacked by gunmen on their way to a match in the Pakistani city of Lahore.

Hello, Cherry and my dear friends.

After an interval of several days, I spent time reading interesting comments on the Blog and doing the tests of an article presented by Plum.

The tests of ten questions would be fun and appropriate to do before going to bed. I warn you that the tip I realized is doing them every night.

By the way,I have had an inflamed swelling on the edge of my left eyelid since Monday. Fortunately it did not ache, but the “sty” made my looks so unattractive and miserable.

On Wednesday I went to the eye doctor and she told me if I preferred to cut open it. When I answered no, she gave me an anti-microbial eye lotion. I have still the swollen eyelid on Thursday.

Tomorrow is the holday, the spring equinox. We're going to the hospital to see and hug Taiga who weighs over 3,000 Killogram.

Hi, ladies!!!

It’s Friday, March 20, 2009 today. It’s Vernal Equinox Day and a national holiday. Did you have a wonderful holiday today? Did you go out anywhere? I did not go out anywhere but stayed at home reading and editing Gloriosa’s essay, which was tremendously intriguing. Actually I enjoyed editing her essay, though I have not told her that yet.

Sunflower, I am so sorry to hear that you got a swollen eyelid. Is it getting better? Or is it still swollen? I hope the swelling will go down as soon as possible.

I am sure that you had a delightful time with Taigo. It’s fascinating to hear that he now weighs over 3 kilograms. He will get bigger and bigger from now on and become healthier and stronger.

Now this is a new quiz for you and me. I hope you enjoy trying this quiz before going to bed, as usual. The article is from the BBC, not the BBC English Learning, and the answers are listed below.

US offers Iran a 'new beginning'

US President Barack Obama has offered "a new beginning" of engagement with Tehran in (1) unprecedented direct video message to the Iranian people.

"My administration is now committed to (2) diplomacy that addresses (3) full range of issues before us," Mr Obama said.

His message was released to coincide with (4) festival of Nowruz, when Iranians mark the arrival of spring.

(5) Relations between Iran and the US have been strained over Tehran's controversial nuclear activities.

The US fears Iran's uranium enrichment programme is (6) cover to build atomic weapons, a charge Iranian officials deny.

A senior advisor to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad welcomed Mr Obama's message, but said the US president had "to go further than words and take action", AFP reported.

Ali Akbar Javanfekr said (7) differences between the two countries were (8) result of (9) "hostile, aggressive and colonialist attitude of the American government" and that the US had to recognise its past mistakes if it wanted to engage Iran.

EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana described Mr Obama's appeal as "very constructive" and urged Teheran to pay (10) close attention to it.

Dear Cherry and friends,

It’s was a beautiful, warm spring day, today, but very windy. I was suffering from sneezing and tearing caused by a hay fever. Tissues are my indispensable, good friends now.

Sunflower, I’m sorry to hear that you have a swollen eyelid. Even though you don’t have any pain around your eye, it must be bothering you and make you feel uneasy. I hope you will get well soon.

We had my husband’s mother’s Buddhist memorial service. I think that getting together to talk about a late person and think of the meaning of death is very important though it is sad and harsh. I thought about the mother whose daughter was killed by three men cruelly. Two of them were sentenced death penalty and one was sentenced to one life term because he surrendered himself to the police. It must be unbearable for the mother to accept this court decision because he tried to rape her daughter and hit her head with hammer several times ignoring her plea. I can’t believe such atrocious fiend can live longer even though he voluntarily went to the police.

I’ll stop here tonight. Let’s think of more fantastic and cheerful things such as going out for cherry blossoms viewing.

Have a sweet dream, my precious friends.
