For the STEP

HI, ladies!!

Today the lecture for the STEP test restarted at Cosmos’s home, under Alice’s guidance for the first time in 3 months, and the participants were Cosmos, Peach, Rose and me. Thanks to Alice’s kind advice, all of us learned a lot and enjoyed them. But I felt my poor brain didn’t work, because I haven’t taken such intensive English lesson for a long time.

…Today’s exercises…

My husband: Haruka is not looking well these days. Is she okay?
Me: Apparently, she isn’t sleeping well just now, although she usually sleeps really soundly.
H: Sounds like something is worrying her.
M: Well, that’s part of the problem. You know that she takes lessons on the piano, don’t you?
H: Yes, ever since she left Osaka.
M: That’s right. Well, at the moment she is joining the tennis club at her junior high, so she plays tennis a lot every day, which takes a couple of hours each day. And on the top of that, she is suffering from lack of time for practicing the piano and has difficulty playing it.

So, see you next. Have a nice weekend!

Hi, Ladies

Today is April 19, the first meeting of 2009 Victorian Studies was held at Plum’s house. Plum presided over the meeting as usual and encouraged participants vigorously to keep up working hard.

Ladies, I would like to make a proposal today. Why don’t we think about the future of NWSRG? I am afraid that we who get together at the tutorial have not clear prospect of the NWSRG. Thanks to Plum’s eager teaching, we can accumulate knowledge.

However, Plum sometimes said that she would not give the tutorial forever. It means that we should consider whether or not we are to run the NWSRG ourselves, and we are to continue issuing its essay collection in the future. If we members would like the NWSRG to survive, we should think about what to do.

The reason why I make this appeal is that I felt something uneasy today to sense Plum’s irritation. I felt a sort of regret that members, especially senior members including myself, have got so accustomed to Plum’s passionate leadership, patience, and generous offering of her time for years that we can not realize the condition that we have become too much dependent on her volunteer spirits, wondering and appreciating her devotion.

The existence of NWSRG is precious for me. However, I have been a mere guest of the meetings and hesitated to ask Plum if there were something I could do for the continuity of the group activities because I lived in Okazaki, because I was not capable enough to help junior members in their writings and so on.

Cosmos offers her study room to the study meetings. This is an effective helping hand for Plum in order to reduce her burden as a hostess of the meeting, I think. Mutual essay-check meetings that we experienced recently would be a possible form of the future study meeting. Fund-raising for PR activity would be necessary, too.
Ladies, please let me/all members know any of your opinions. I think this is important for our future.

Good night.
