Bright sunlight

How are you, ladies!?
Alice, Peach, you had a nice holiday, didn’t you?

Rose, you got an extraordinary experience…!
Even though the swine flu seemed to be less serious than we expected, you must have been afraid of the virus at the time. Please stay home and relax.

My family and I enjoyed a brief stay at Shino-jima last weekend. Thanks to the mild climate, beautiful scenery refreshed us. We also enjoyed delicious fish at a good price. All of us went on a bicycle trip for a while, running around the tiny, calm island in fresh air and the bright sunlight.

So, see you next. Bye!

Japan pledges $1bn in aid to Pakistan
17 April 2009

Report
Prime Minister Taro Aso made (1) announcement that Japan would pledge up to a billion dollars of aid after (2) talks with Pakistan's President Asif Ali Zardari. The two men met ahead of (3) international meetings in Tokyo on Friday that will include the United States, China and (4) European Union, as well as other donors. Pakistan is looking for billions of dollars more from them.
In return it is expected to give (5) assurances it is committed to economic reform and to fighting (6) rising Islamist insurgency. Militant groups are increasingly threatening the writ of the state in Pakistan, carrying out suicide bombings and other attacks. Taliban fighters based in Pakistan's lawless north west are also undermining stability in neighbouring Afghanistan. There's concern (7) economic meltdown could fuel support for extremism.
Pakistan's economy is being propped up by a 7.6 billion dollar loan from the International Monetary Fund. (8) key issue at the talks will be what conditions are attached to (9) aid.
Japan meanwhile is hoping hosting the conference will help increase its international clout. The world's second biggest economy has long punched beneath its weight because its post- war pacifist constitution makes it reluctant to send (10) troops abroad.

Hi, ladies!!!
It has been a lovely day today, hasn’t it?

How did you spend the day, my precious frineds?
I was working on my own project all morning and in the early afternoon went out to get some T-shirts for Kenken, who is my daughter’s younger son (he is now a half year old), at GAP at Hoshigaoka, since they were selling nice looking T-shirts for babies at reduced prices.

This is a new quiz for you and me. Hope you enjoy trying it.

Hi, ladies!!!
It is Mother’s Day today.

Did you send your mothers carnations, my precious friends?
I did not because my mother is not alive.

I sometimes miss my mother, who was a hard working person all her life. I just wonder whether or not she had a happy life. She had a cerebral hemorrhage after the celebration of her 88th birthday and then was accommodated at a home for the sick elderly after a half-year of hospitalization for the treatment of her disorder.

She was quite healthy and vital until she had the stroke. She liked reading, drawing Japanese poem pictures and practicing Japanese calligraphy, just like many women in her generation.

It’s sad that I cannot see her any more.

This is a new quiz for you and me. Hope you enjoy trying it.

Thai effeminate priests

29 April 2009

Report
(1) Religious authorities say they're responding to (2) increasing irritation among (3) more conservative Thai clerics and members of (4) public with behaviour perceived as effeminate.

They're aiming to reduce or eliminate (5) wearing of make-up and tight robes by younger priests, and generally (6) attitudes that suggest (7) homosexual activity.

Of (8) all Asian countries, Thailand is perhaps (9) most tolerant of homosexuality, which is often open and flamboyant. But it's still considered largely incompatible with (10) Buddhist priesthood, with its traditions of celibacy and self-discipline.
