HI, everyone!
Last night I tried to put papers and books in order on my desk, because those have been surely increasing since I began the Victorian studies, and I had difficulties in searching papers every time. But arranging new shelf on my desk made it clear dramatically for me, and I’m very delighted about it now. Orderly desktop is really comfortable, isn’t it? I just hope I could keep things neat…
I also realized an excellent fact about our memory on the TV program last night. In this program, Mr. Mogi, brain scientist, said that we could increase our powers of memory by joining our sense of speaking, reading and writing together. From brain science, Plum’s lecture is exactly correct.
So, it’s time for my kids to come home. See you tomorrow, Good bye.

My excitement
Hi, my dear friends!
It seems like it’s going to be a clear day today, doesn’t it?
Even now, my excitement hasn’t disappeared since yesterday’s splendid learning time. I didn’t know about the Victorian era very well, and I was really impressed with members’ deep interests and knowledge about it. Moreover, I was also deeply moved by Plum’s passionate lecture on us. ‘Grab the chance!’ ‘Make a splash!’ I like those sentences. Who on earth could tell me like this until now? Nobody. OK, we can grab the chance and make a splash!
Now, I can smell sweet fragrance of rose mini fragrancer you gave us yesterday. Thank you very much, Plum.
So, have a nice holiday! See you!

walk up and down
Hi, everyone!
Two days ago, I was sitting on a chair for about three hours without a break, for writing a time line for Victorian studies. I am not skilled in using Excel. After that, I was bothered by lower-back pain for a while. I realized that it was no good to continue a same position, and that I hadn’t excised at all for a long time. Two months ago, when I go to gym regularly, I could feel my whole body get lighter. But since I stopped to go, I’ve instantly gained weight. Oh, no… So, I’ve decided to walk up and down the stairs of my apartment, instead of using an elevator. My house is on the fifth floor, and such movement makes me tired a little.
Just walking seems good for our health, but my apartment is on the top of the hill, and I have to walk along a steep slope wherever I go. Getting there is easy, but the way back is hard. Now there are a lot of, pink, white, red azaleas blooming along the street, but I won’t be able to enjoy those beautiful flowers while being out of breath.
So, see you tomorrow. Good bye.

Class meeting
Hi, everyone!
Plum, thank you for letting know the impressive information about higher education for women. The Victorian age with a lot of aspects is full of exiting features I’ve never known…
From now, I’m going to go to kids’ school to attend a class meeting for the first time in this school year. The older daughter is the six grades, at the last of the elementary school. She doesn’t go to any cram-schools, and I’m worried about her study at school. Sometime she asks me to solve a problem in her homework, but I often can’t explain it well, especially at math.
So, talk later. I must go. Bye!

Amazing story
Hi, everyone!
Plum, thank you for showing us some important details about the vote for men in the Victorian era. I’m now making a time line to learn that era. It seems difficult for me to imagine their efforts toward the vote.
Last night, I read an interesting article in TIME. It is ‘A mother’s story,’ telling us Barack Obama’s mother’s uncommon life. She lived so dramatic, international life that I wanted to read her own story, but she had already gone without her own memoir in 1995. I didn’t know about it at all. I suppose she had always spent her life time for herself, not her husband, not even her children. It’s a very attractive, amazing story.
So, see you later. Good bye.

Japanese technology
Hi, everyone!
As for Japanese technology, I agree with your thought, Magnolia. Our country has shown great ability in such area, and I, too, hope engineers could produce a revolutionary idea for us. By the way, I am always surprised with advanced technology in the computer game industry. My kids don’t have a GAME BOY now, but almost all of their friends have it. They used to ask their father eagerly to buy that device, but he never said yes, because he was afraid that their eye sights might begin to fail. Recently, that industry has aimed at adults as consumers, for example, with Wii. These are certainly attractive games, but I wonder how far we could go. The more such virtual reality games, or devices increase, the more we tend to stay at home. I just want my kids to enjoy great nature outside our small home.

For Victorian studies
Hi, everyone!
It has been very hot day today, and it is almost early summer, isn’t it?
These days I re-read the materials which Plum gave us before for Victorian studies. I am now reading the easiest one for elementary school’s students. With learning it, it seems miraculous for me that the British Empire had completely produced the base of the world situation. Other materials are hard for me, but I’m looking forward for her lessons. Though I am very poor at historical issues both in England and in Japan, I’m gradually interested in such issues since I’ve tackled with my essay. Those will give me some deeper understanding about backgrounds of our society.
So, see you tomorrow. Good bye.

Food self-sufficiency
Hi, everyone!
This afternoon, I happened to find my misunderstanding about the food self-sufficiency by a TV program. A couple of days ago I talked to some friends about that issue, related with food safety. I simply thought we should eat Japanese rice more at first in order to raise the low rate of food self –sufficiency. But on the program, a specialist said the problem was in the lowness of the custom tariff, kanzeiritsu. (I couldn’t make out that detail.) I also found that the self sufficiency of rice in Japan was very high, almost 100 %, and that eating much rice wasn’t a solution of that problem. I couldn’t understand the rest of his comments at all. It was too difficult and complicated for me, but gave me some awareness. Food safety has becoming more important for all of us, hasn’t it? By the way, my kids and I had McDonald’s hamburgers for lunch, not hand-made, not Japanese food…sorry.
So, see you later, good night.

To feel comfortableness
Hi, everyone!
I’ve been studying English a lot recently, and I’ve decided to keep it until I can feel comfortableness about it. Thinking about all things in English is so hard for me that I have always many difficulties. This afternoon, I was going back to my house by subway from where I had gone to. When I was sitting down on the seat, two high school girls came to the opposite seat. They were wearing a uniform with extremely short skirt, and I came near looking at their under wear. When I looked around the inside of subway, a lot of girls also tried to wear their skirts as shortly as possible. I wondered why they liked such skirts, and tried to think about that issue in English. (Because they know their commercial value? And they challenge our masculine society?) While imagining, my station had already passed!! So, I got off at the next station, and walked a bit longer way to my house( it’s a steep slope.) I feel now tired in my body and brain…
But Plum’s today’s comment made me happy. I’d like to keep this pace on this Blog. Thank you very much.
So, see you later, good bye. Have a nice weekends!

The new Spanish cabinet
Hi, everyone!
I’ve found an interesting news article on the Net:
The new Spanish cabinet, sworn in by the socialist Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, has nine women alongside eight men, including Spain's first woman Defense minister, Carme Chacon, and its youngest-ever cabinet minister, the 31-year-old minister for equality, Bibiana Aido.
The same news with a photograph is also in the Asahi newspaper this morning. It’s amazing that more than half the cabinet members are women, including a pregnant woman. (She is appointed as the minister of defense!) I wonder how these drastic measures could work well in Spain.
I usually have my shoulder massaged by my younger daughter. She has been good at massaging since early times, and I’m always relieved while she is doing it with her small fingers. It is strange that she seems to get a certain point easily, though I have never taught her how to do. She is a handy person, and wants to be a patissier. I’ll recommend her to be a massager. By the way, I didn’t know the word ‘slope’ meaning sloping shoulders, nadegata. So, don’t Western women have stiff shoulders very much? Because my square ones, I may have mild stiff on my shoulders.
So, see you later, good bye.

Western music
Hi, everyone!
These days I’ve found new use of my PC while checking my e-mail and some sites. To listen to music on the Internet radio, especially 80’s hit music, is fantastic. (There is a special radio station for only 80’s. It’s wonderful, isn’t it?) When I have to concentrate on some articles, I just turn down the volume on it. My golden days as a high-school and college student are almost 80’s when Western music, yogaku, became very popular among younger people. I used to watch the TV program Best Hit USA every week. There were a lot of music videos on the program, and I enjoyed Madonna, M.Jackson, and others. What a good old days…! I prefer 80’s music to today’s one, because those have dramatic, sensitive, and touchable sense for me.
So, see you tomorrow. Good bye.

The toughest player
Hi, everyone!
Since I stopped going to gym last month, I’m afraid I’ve gained weight. It was very comfortable for me to stretch my muscles, listening to some healing music there. Some women wearing nice clothes for sports were showing good performances, and I used to dream that I could become a good-shaped woman like them…I like that special atmosphere there, and I’d like to go again in near future. Plum, I hope you are enjoying your exercise.
As you know, the pro-baseball season has already started, and I’m happy that my favorite team has been beating against others. Above all, good news surprised us three days ago. The toughest player of Hanshin Tigers, 40 years old Kanemoto, realized his 2000 hits at a match with Yokohama, which is the 37th in Japanese pro-baseball history. Moreover, he has amazingly continued playing his good play at every match with no absences for these 8 years. When he became a player 17 years ago, they said he was just a skinny boy. In order to be a strong player, he started persistent efforts at that time. Now, he says ‘practice makes perfect.’ I’m proud of him, and keep telling myself that dramatic word.
Thank you for reading. See you later.

My first memory
Hi, everyone!
Today is, April 14, 2008. I’ve usually written a message on this Blog at night, but I’m going to try it in the morning now, because nobody would disturb me at all. Though I finish my household chores at around 10 o’clock in the evening, one tired man always wants me to do some works. He has no energy to do anything after his work, and just rests himself, lying on the floor every night. I have a pity on him, but I want to concentrate on my works.
I remember my first memory. When I was 3 or 4 years old, I was enjoying a summer vacation on the seashore in Ishikawa prefecture, where is my mother's birthplace, with my mother, brother, and some relatives. I was wearing a pretty bikini, and my mother talked to someone, that I didn’t need wear such a bikini (because I was just a baby.) They all laughed loudly, and I was dissatisfied with that big laugh at me. I think it should be my first one.
So, see you tomorrow. Good bye!

In spring...
Hi, everyone!
This morning I made a mistake. I usually get up at 6 a.m., but it was 7:30 when my daughter came to shake me up. Children should leave for school at 7:50, and all of us panicked for a second. We meant to hurry up with everything, and they were just in time. I felt relieved about it. ‘In spring one sleeps a sleep that knows no dawn.’
I am too lazy to do gardening, and I envy you, Sunflower. I like raspberry. Speaking of plants, I have caused to bloom little viola on the veranda since this winter, because tending them are very easy. Just water and sunshine make them grow.
So, see you tomorrow. Good night.

The new term
Hi, everyone!
It was so strong wind and rain fall last night that almost all cherry blossoms felt down. There were a lot of petals on the ground, getting wet in the rain this morning.
Today is the first day of my kids’ school, and classes are rearranged in the new term. In school, all things become new. My daughters were excited with new teachers, classmates, and textbooks. April might make a fresh start for everyone. I, as a housewife, don’t have to do something new in my daily life, and have only to do my routine work everyday. But as an individual, I’d like to do something that stirs my blood at a time like this. I envy them.
As Peach mentioned before, I also like watching NHK program. My favorite one is the 3kagetsu eigo on the novel Ann of Green Gables. On the program, a famous writer and actress Keiko Matsuzaka are guiding to beautiful areas as tourist spots in Canada. I used to read it (in Japanese) so many times and enjoy Ann’s lovely, dreamy, and fantastic story when I was a school girl. I want my daughters to read it in the near future.

The best spring season
Hi, everyone!
Welcome back, Plum! You must have been enjoyed a lot of beautiful places in England, and so got tired. Please take care. I’m looking forward to hear your interesting stories of the journey.
Magnolia, I’m happy to hear your fantastic trip to Hikone with your friends. It has been really warm and comfortable during the last two days, hasn’t it? You could enjoy the best spring season. Someday I’d like to go there.
So, see you later. Good night.

English Grammar
HI, everyone!
I skipped this Blog for some days because of my hectic days of spring holiday. I was going to write it everyday, but I couldn’t. I didn’t use to skip it very much before, but now I often do it. These days I found that I was weak in English grammar, so I have turned cautious in writing this Blog. Today I learned ‘used to’ and ‘I am doing,’ and I am trying to use them here. In fact, I’d like to write about movies, books and TV programs, but my mind is too much occupied with my own affairs. I wish I could freely write in English, just like you.
So, see you tomorrow. Good night.
