Aging society

HI, ladies!!

Plum, I sincerely hope for your success of your speech. We only have the weather to worry about now…

Sunflower, your opinion about Sarah Palin was so interesting. John McCain is surely old enough to get a disease in the near future, and it leads her to become the President of USA, suddenly. I have no idea about her ability as the Vice President…

Today’s topic:
How will the aging society affect Japan’s economy?

Recently Japan has the increasing number of elderly people, and many researchers have shown bad effects about it. However I believe that it would give a lot of good impact to all aspects of society in the future.
Firstly, it will increase the need for female or foreign labor force instead of shrinking Japanese male workers. Most companies have been reluctant to hire these people for a long time, but now they can have a chance to employ them efficiently.
Secondly, it will develop industries geared for elderly people. In order to
make efficient products for them, companies will have to concentrate its new business efforts. Thus, it will greatly act a stimulus to Japan’s economy.
Finally, the age of retirement in companies will become higher than before. More and more passionate and full-experienced elderly people have been worked in society, and we can now receive their wisdom more than ever.
In conclusion, though we concern about our shrinking productivity in Japan, there is room for further study. By utilize elderly people’s economic power not only as consumers but also as producers, they will empower Japan’s economy. (188)

Thank you for reading. Bye for now!

Hi Cherry and ladies,

Plum, I’m hoping you will make a great success at the conference and I’m sure you will win applause from the audience.

Sunflower, your comments on the ability of Sarah Palin as a future president is very interesting and gets to the point. In my opinion, even as a vice-president, she is not suitable though I admit that she is very attractive, powerful and has had an experience as a governor. But I doubt if she can pursue the both roles, a vice-president and a mother. Because the role of the vice-president of the US is enormous and has a great influence over the world and requires a talent of negotiation with others in the various fields. In those means, she is lack of experience and human network.

Luckily for me, I had a chance to attend a seminar “Journey to Anne of Green Gables” by Ms. Yuko Matsumoto. The seminar was only two and half hours, but it was full of information and I really had a great time and learned a lot.

Today, I would like to introduce you two of quotes from Shakespeare, which are very interesting and unique.

One is in chapter 3. When Anne was asked her name by Marilla, she answered “Will you please call me Cordelier?” Of cause it is not a real name and a common girl’s name neither. If I don’t know the story of “King Lear,” I have no idea why Anne wanted to be called her Cordelier and I would not notice how funny the contrast of two girls’ name, very talkative Anne and very quiet Cordelier. I could say Anne is a very romantic girl who has a longing for a beautiful tragic princess.
Another is in chapter 5. Anne tells her tale of woe and talks about her parents’ name. She seems happy to know that her parents had nice names, because it is terrible if they had strange names for her. She insists that names are important by saying “I read in a book once that a rose by any other name would smell as sweet, but I’ve never been able to believe it. I don’t believe a rose would be as nice if it was called a thistle or a skunk-cabbage.” In this case, a book means “Romeo and Juliet.” Juliet laments over her misfortune when she found Romeo is a son of her family’s enemy. She talks to herself that names are not important because even if Romeo has different name, he, himself is not change. It is again an interesting contrast. How interesting and considerable these are!

Of cause, there are many heartwarming sentences and phrases as well as quotes from novels, poets and bible.

I will stop here today.

Cherry, I admire you. I wish I could write about the topic you pick up each time.

Good night my precious friends.
