Hunger in a world of plenty

HI, ladies!
It is Wednesday, December 17, 2008, today, and has been raining off and on. Unfriendly weather, isn’t it?

Hunger in a world of plenty (summary): the material from Alice

Recently the world faces serious shortages of food, and experts now forecast a structural shift in global demand that will keep prices high and people hungry. There is no simple answer to explain the shortages.
First, bad weather in food producing countries has been a factor.
Second, it has also raised prices of seeds.
Third, skyrocketing oil prices have pushed the price of fertilizer and feed.
Fourth, producers are holding off on sending foods to the market, and some governments are making matters worse by restricting food exports.
Fifth, there is the push to develop greener fuels, diverting million tons of food to biofuels.

There are some coordinated responses to them.
First, governments have to provide funds to help hold off crises.
Second, investment in agricultural infrastructure is essential to ensure that crops get from the fields to the market.
Third, energy efficiency must also increase.

…It is very hard to talk fluently about those current social issues, partly because I have little knowledge of various fields.

So, see you next, bye!

Hello, Ladies.

Rose called me this evening to ask the Japanese title of books Cherry posted the other day.

They are
米英 回覧実記 & 米欧回覧実記 .

I admire Cherry to read through these books despite her hectic work schedule.

Incidentally, I was recommended to read earlier academic essays, in other words, the essays other scholars had already researched and written before us by Plum. Research essays should be started on reading those preceding academic essays and not on reading books just for general readers.

She also suggested me to search for the previous academic essays through the Internet.
We are supposed to be told, but I don’t remember this special site. Does this "The World Cat"?

I could notice two English books related Kujo Takeko.
I have to research how to get them.

Good-night.

Dear Sunflower,

Thank you for arranging our meeting with Bev sensei.

The quickest way to show her directions is just to print out the map, draw arrows on it with colored pens, and hand it to her.
How's that?

Shall I do it?

Dear Sunflower,

Please remove the address from the comment, because it is personal information which we should not post on the web.

Thank you.

Hello, ladies.

Yes, Thank you for your thoughtful suggestion. I should have been more careful about posting the messeages.

It’s Wednesday. This morning I called Plum to report her about Bev’s acceptance of invitation.
We're looking forward to seeing her next May.

I have one problem to solve.

I’d like to show Bev how to get to Plum’s by indicating the proper direction using an arrow on the map, but I don’t know how to do it. It’s beyond my technological knowledge of PC.

Could you help me draw an arrow on the map I copied from the Chizumaru?

Here is the correspondence between
Bev and me.

Hello, Bev.

How delighted to hear of your quick and approving response!
I made the gleeful news posted on Cherry’s blog( for our communication ), making contact with Aoyama sensei about the time.

Now let me tell you the schedule on Ma 31(Sun.)

We’re planning on having the lecture meeting from one to three at Aoyama’s.

I tried to attach a map but I failed. I'm sorry but
I could tell you cleverly how to get there, if necessary.
You’ll be able to park the car but the road is narrow.

With kind regards,
Keiko Watanabe

Dear Keiko

The map was attached. I am not quite sure where the place is, but I will figure it out by the end of May!!
