A change of season

Hi, everyone!

Plum, I'm sorry for your hand's serious pain.
But it's good that your tablet and gel worked well for you and, massage!
I think you had too many works...
Actually, yesterday my husband suddenly got a sharp lower-back pain.(gikkuri-goshi)
Since he drives a car on business every day, and has little excise, it's not surprising for me.
Now he needs some 'rest cure.'( from 'The yellow wall paper'...)

Come to weekend, I really feel relaxed.
Because we can staying up late at night, and oversleeping at tomorrow morning.
It's my fun to sleep well at such a change of season.

So, have a nice weekend, my friends.
Good bye!

Hi, everyone!!!

It’s Friday today.
The weather was very unstable during the daytime in Sydney, and it’s getting dark now. Also it’s a bit chilly and I wear a sweater and a thick coat over it, because there is no heater in this room.

Magnolia, thank you for your interest in Voltaren gel. I checked the price for a tube of gel 20g, and it costs 8. 80 dollars. I just thought it was much cheaper, but I was wrong. Nonetheless it is still the price of skin cream, isn’t it? I will get you one gel for you, if you do not mind the price.

For lunch, my daughter made French crepes, and we put avocado slices, lettuce, tomato and cucumber slices and prawns, etc. on a crepe, and sprinkle just salt and pepper over them, and wrap up them with it just like temaki-zushi, and eat it. It was so good, and I would like to make this recipe when I get home.

I am wondering whether you have finished reading that part of Engel’s essay. For some, it might have been fairly hard to read, but do not worry about it and just keep in mind that he claims that capitalist marriage is based on convenience (money) whereas proletariat one on pure love. It seems Engels himself had a lover all his mature life, but he did not marry her, since he had a big doubt about the institution of marriage.

There seemed to be a lot of Japanese socialists influenced by this idea of his. One of them could be Miyamoto Yuriko (1899-1951), and she wrote an autobiographical novel entitled Nobuko. If you want to study about marriage, this novel should be definitely read. It is easy to read and understand, and the best thing about this fiction is that it is tremendously intriguing and interesting from a feminist point of view, and certainly her story will deepen your knowledge concerning how intelligent Japanese women lived their lives in the pre-war period in Japan.

Tomorrow Hitomi san and Yuko chan will visit us, and we are going to have buckwheat noodles for lunch together, and we will have a lot of enjoyable time.

My precious friends, have a lovely Friday night. I will cook dinner now. Bye, bye.

Hello, everyone.
I could really enjoy hot spring 'Himawarinoyu' in Nagano Prefecture, which has a nice open air bath.

Plum, I don't mind the price of $8.80 which is under 1,000 yen, so please get one Voltaren gel for me. And I know that I ask you too much, but I really like a lanolin skin cream in Australia or New Zealand, so if you find one with a picture of sheep on it, will you kindly buy one for me? It is about $6 or so. I can't find such a cream in Japan.

I'm going to Hula Dance Party with Cosmos on Sun. of 16 from 19:00 to 21:00, when Jonathan's band will play with dancers at Irinaka. Does anyone want to join us? It costs 3,000 yen including 3 drinks.

Hi, everyone.

Yesterday, my computer was something wrong. I would not like to turn on the switch.

Cherry, I am sorry, your husband is suffering from a slipped disk, isn't he? My husband suffered it twice. Corset is effective for him, I think and using a stick, and sleeping like a shrimp. He needs days. The rest is medicine.

Plum, I am sorry for your suffering pains from arthritis.
You are fatigued.
I finished reading 'The monogamous family' then I began to read Charlotte Perkins Gilman. However, I would like to read 'origins of family' earlier than Gilman's.

Sunflower, I would like to Jonathan's discussion on 14th.
Thank you very much. I would like to listen to your opinions.

Hello,everyone!
Yesterday I went to Will-Aichi to watch the film “Masai’s Lover”. I thought the film was produced with western viewpoint, not from the side of the minor tribe of African. The picture dipicts the white western lady who fell in love with handsome Masi worrior at first sight and married him. After the romantic honeymoon terms past, a valiety of difficulties she had to go through overwheled her challenging spirit. She saw a lot of traditional conventions and unacceptable customs such as circumcision or drinking goat’s blood as a ritual. But they are their culture. The most questional matter is the difference of sense of value. Masai’s value is on the spirit of sharing, everything belongs to everyone. However The woman brought the value of the Western. She really wanted to make Masi more abudant materially and economically. Her effort was not rewarding, far from that she was misunderstood and mistreated by her husband. He left the village of masai after taking severe DV by her husband whom she had once crazy about and never return to him. My impression is that she was wrong. She was an only one outsider in the tribe society who anyway accepted a strange western women. So she had to try to assimilate herself to the tribe society first but she tried to introduce the western values that didn’ work well there, only severe misunderstanding and deep friction. The couple had loved each other from bottom of their heart for the first, overcoming the border of cultures and countries. Their romance ended up miserable result. This movie gave a chance to me to think about what is culture.
Tomorrow I’d like to write about a talk about the Japanese woman who married a Masai. ( continued )

Hello, my friends.

We're going to have Jonathan’s seminar as follows.
We're expecting to have a lively discussion over this theme.

Title: ‘What is Japanese “image” of Christianity?

Dates & Time: September 14(Fri.) & 21(Fri.) from10:00~

Place: Tokie’s house

Anyone who is interested in the impact of Christianity on Japanese women would be welcomed.

SESSION 1 (of 2)

"HOMEWORK" :

1) What do you believe the Japanese image of Christianity is?

2) Keiko mentioned that "Christianity and Western learning played an important role in the modernization of Japan in the early Meiji era. Numerous Japanese women who had a high western education such as Tsuda Umeko, Ishii Fudeko, Yuasa Hatsu and Yamamuro Kieko were immensely influenced with the spirit of Christianity. They were all baptized and believed in God. Western learning through Christianity brought them to spearhead education for young women and to dedicate their lives to social welfares."

Why do you think they chose Christianity?

3.) How is Christianity different from other world religions?

Dear friends,

It is still hot and humid. To hear the cold weather in Sydney, I feel that the earth is huge.

In the change of season, I should be more careful about health, phycially and mentally. I hope all of your pains go away.

Plum, I think taking care of the baby requires physical strength, especially around wrists. Please take care. Taking massage in a foregin country sounds very nice.

One of my friend's husband who suffers from the lower back pain often gets a bee strike remedy. Can you believe that? It must give more pain so that he can forget the pain, I guess.

Sunflower, thank you very much for the information, but as for me I would rather pass this time. It would be better to concentrate on the papper.

Could some of you tell me the e-mail address of Bev-sensei?

Good night, sleep tight.

Hi, everyone.

You are expected not to have a chill in your body. When I invested my little money in stocks of Pharmacia (former Monsant), it developed 'Celebrex' for arthritis.
Pharmacia said 'conventional medicines for arthritis are tagged with side effects, however, you don't need to worry about side effects of celebrex.'
It sounded it was a dream-like medicine but soon after I found the article through the internet. it said side effects of celebrex was found . I am concerned about the side effects of your arthritis medicine. Now Pharmacia submits its second medicine to the FDA for approval. I hope a new medicine will work for you.

Peach, which do you like better, Guam or Saipan? Please give me the reason.
