For Victorian studies

Hi, everyone!
It has been very hot day today, and it is almost early summer, isn’t it?

These days I re-read the materials which Plum gave us before for Victorian studies. I am now reading the easiest one for elementary school’s students. With learning it, it seems miraculous for me that the British Empire had completely produced the base of the world situation. Other materials are hard for me, but I’m looking forward for her lessons. Though I am very poor at historical issues both in England and in Japan, I’m gradually interested in such issues since I’ve tackled with my essay. Those will give me some deeper understanding about backgrounds of our society.

So, see you tomorrow. Good bye.

Hi, ladies!!!
It has been an extremely warm day for spring, and I discovered on the TV evening news program that the highest temperature went over 25 degrees, and so no wonder…

I really don’t like spring’s going behind us. I just want to keep it as long as I could. One of the universally typical spring flowers is “rape” flowers. I still easily recall the fields of rape flowers I saw here and there on the way to Oxford and Bath, England. The interesting knowledge I got was that neither of the tour guides called the flowers “rape” flowers but “rapeseed” or “canola” flowers.

I was told that the plants were being raised to get oil from them so as to use it as an alternative to gasoline for cars, buses or trucks. I was extremely amazed, since although there is a serious food shortage problem around the world at the moment, the British government appears to me to pay almost no attention to it but consider a future “industrial revolution” in a stupidly(???) serious fashion, by planting a great amount of rapeseed. What do you think about it?

I am enjoying exercises at the gym, though I never thought I would become a gym-goer, as I told you. On the weekend I took lessons in yoga, and next Saturday I am going to do some pilates, which I never tried before, and so I am looking forward to it.

Maybe tomorrow I will write something about Chartism that occurred in Victorian England. Bye for now, my precious friends.

Hello, friends.

Japanese major oil distributors began to sell biofuel in Tokyo, Chiba,Kanagawa, and Saitama on a trial basis last year. It was sold at the same price as regular gasoline, but I didn't hear any reputation or opinion about that.

In Europe I heard that biofuel was more popular and America also wants to promote its production by corn, rapeseed, and poisonous plant called jatropha.

I watched the CNN news telling that there are some farmers who hide a lot of corn products and waits untill the price would rise, which will cause food shortage and price-hike. It is a vicious cycle and there are always many people who want to take advantage and cash in on the situation.

As Japan has high technology like hybrid car and hydrogen-fuel cell car, we don't have to follow American way and we should develop
cutting edge techology.
