This is my confession!
I have believed that I am a dog person. However, I should admit that I have gradually defected from one to another, a cat person, since I started visiting Plumﾕs house and observing her cats closely. The more I viewed catsﾕ behavior, the more I got charmed with feline moving.
Firstly, I sensed similar atmosphere to human beings in their bearing when they were curious, boring, and contented; checking human visitors, strolling around, watching its rivalﾕs moving while even resting on the sofa, mewing until it can attract the masterﾕs attention, yawning, and stretching limbs. These are what I usually do. Secondly, I spotted their tails moving sinuously in a meaning manner. A cat moves the tail in an irregular rhythm as if it were the conductor of an orchestra, which is a different maneuver from that of dogsﾕ. Suppose Retrievers wagging the tail while walking. They usually wag it right and left in regular rm. Thirdly, its drooping body when the master takes it up gives an impression that a cat becomes a part of the masterﾕs clothing. These more complicated characteristics than that of dogs probably tempted me.
Although having been enticed by a feline enchantment, I feel that seemingly simpler characteristics of canine would provide me with peace in mind.

Hi, ladies!!!
It has been wet unfortunately, but all the green leaves around my house look so refreshed, bright and gorgeous. I hope all of you are having an intriguing time, though the weather is not remarkably cooperative.
Yesterday, Alice, Sunflower, Azalea, and Gloriosa came to my place to discuss their projects. Actually Alice and Gloriosa have decided what they do for their project respectively, while Azalea and Sunflower have not yet.
Sooner or later, they will let all of you know what their projects are, I hope. At least, Gloriosa made up her mind to read four English reference books a month (she said that normally she was able to read one English book a week), perhaps until she finishes up writing an essay of about 100 pages by the end of 2009, and, sort of, promised me to fulfill her determination. Great, isn’t it?
This summer will be extremely hot and exciting for Sunflower and Azalea, but I am sure that they will find precious treasures by getting into mountains of knowledge and information.
According to the weather forecast, we are now in the rainy season without doubt. As the long spell of rainy weather passes away, summer comes in.
Do you have any special plans for the summer, by the way? Me, nothing. No special plans, but I will be very busy with preparation for my public speech held in Kumamoto in mid-September.

It is Tuesday, June 3rd. It stopped raining. Let me tell you about guests to my house on Sunday. Last Sunday I had three guests, one is from Holland traveling two from Hawaii working as teachers in Japan. Bruce who lives in Amsterdam is a friend of my husbands through hobbies. They are serious collectors of figures of Kaijyu. They have known each other more than 10 years. He visited us four times, I guess. One time he visited us during Christmas holiday and stayed with us about 7 days. It was a good training for me not only to use English but also make ariawase to enteratin foreign people... He has two nationlities, America and Holland and is a computer engineer. To tell a long story short every time I saw him I was impressed with the difference of attitude toward life between Holland and Japan. In Holland, he says, they devided the school district into four and each school district has its own yearly schedule, for example summer vacation starts in 8-week difference so that parents and kids enjoy escaping from traffic jams nor full reservation. Can you imagine that? Isn't it practical? Is Mercy living legal only in Holland now? He had a Dutch girlfriend in US and promised to go to Holland together, but she passed away young. He studied Dutch under a private teacher and got a job in Holland. He really loves Holland.
His company faces a difficult time and is going to have 17 percent personnel restruction. 17 percent of the employees have to leave the company if they refuse to move to US, whose headquater is in Toronto, though ( very confusing !!). I hope he can survive.He also mentions this rise of petrol, which severly threaten to live in US which depends on automobils. He enjoys the eco-friendly life in Holland riding a bike, for me it sounds cool.

Moist air seems to make the color of greens deeper and thicker.
I once asked Bruce about the uniqness of Holland. From the conversation with him, I noticed two things. One is they put more weight on individual freedom than we do. Choice of living and dying depends on the individual. Funny thing is that they are united in the taste for sweets, mostly chocolate. As you know, in Holland they only sell chocolate of defined percentage of cocoa. In Japan, we don't care so much how high is the percentage of cocoa is and call it chocolate even if how low the percentage is.
The other thing he mentioned is how small her land for living is. You may know that a lot of names of cities in Holland end with -dam, which means damp or dam. Damp land occupies mosty in Holland. A quater of the country is below the sea level. So it had been suffering the damage by water so it was hard for them to live. Independent from Spain in 1581, they should seek for their uique way of surviving. Trading is one of their ways to earn living. I guess the Dutch people came to Japan in need of trading, which was appealing to the Sogunate.
I think that's why Plum has an impression of Holland as less religious.
People in Holland seem to have very rational way of thinking because they don't want to spend time and money with less meaning. That's why they care more about sweets and weigh much on time with children and friends, moreover with himself or herself. They precede what they want to do and respect for it.
I'm very happy because I can communicate with him and find wonderful things about him. He is very charming to me now. 10 years ago, his way of life is beyond my understanding.
