You know iknow?

Hi, ladies!!
It is Wednesday, November 12, 2008, today, and has been rather warmer than yesterday.

Some effective expression ;( Victorian study)
Obliging a friend was not something to be ashamed of; it was a matter of pride and principle.
As she grew older she grew more tyrannical as a hostess, to the point where Macaulay said,…
After years of enmity,…
She was no fan either of England or the upper class;…
It was at Stanfford House, her London residence, that a group of English women met to…

Today I tried to access a SNS service iknow, which was introduced on the newspaper a week ago, to improve my English listening skill. I used to listen to some English news by my ipod, but I need to strengthen the skill more. Poor English is not something to be ashamed of; I have only to make an effort.

As I tried some corner in the site I got more interested in such effective learning as an English listener, taking some dictation more comfortably than ever. I hope my skill will become fantastic after years of patience?

By the way, I was no fan either of the Giants or the Lions, but I was moved at watching the Japan Baseball Champion Series of this year. It was The Lions, usually B class team that finally won the game. The coach of the team burst into tears when they won, because they all had endured many hard training throughout this year. Practice makes perfect.

See you next, bye!

Hi Cherry and friends,

It was a very beautiful autumn day today after the gloomy days. I wasn’t feeling well last several days, but I’m feeling well now, just like today’s weather.

I watched CNN news last Wednesday afternoon to see the process of the Presidential election on time. Finding out Obama’s victory, I was very excited and felt as if I was in the very middle of the historical and dramatic moment though I’m not an American of cause. The first African-American will be the next President of the United State! In 1970, only thirty-eight years ago, when African-American had been granted suffrage, who could imagine this day? I listened to McCain’s concession speech and Obama’s victory speech carefully. I could understand very small percentage of their speeches because of my poor listening ability, but I was very moved by them, especially Obama’s.
Not to mention, Obama’s speech was outstanding and pursuasive, I was almost tears with emotion. He was very calm and cool and seemed very serious to face the difficulties ahead of him and America, not to be overjoyed.

As I recoded his speech and downloaded the transcript, I listened to it again yesterday. He mentioned that 106 years old lady, who has lived through hash era and the darkest time, went to cast her ballet. And he said “If our children should live to see the next century;・・・what change will they see? What progress will we have made?” I hope he will lead America to the right direction and work for the peace for all over the world.

Now I just started studying feminism and I think of women who struggled and fought for their rights and became recognizing the current of history for minority.

Good night, my precious friends,
Reiko
