The Latin Hillary

Hi, everyone!

Cosmos, do you have any favorite Kabuki actors? I’d like to teach me about that charm for you. And I think your daughters are powerful persons, aren’t they?

Today I will write an interesting article from TIME. The title is ‘The Latin Hillary.’
‘Argentina’s First Lady and a powerful senator in her own right, Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner is the favorite to be the next President’
‘Fernandez, too, married her law-school sweetheart and helped him become the Governor of a small southern province and then President.’
‘”Women bring a different face to politics,” says Fernandez, who has a teenage daughter and a grown son. “We see the big geopolitical picture but also the smaller, daily details of citizens’ lives. We’re wrapped up as much in what our daughter’s school principal says as we are in what the newspapers are saying.”’

It is a nice article, isn’t it?

So, see you tomorrow, good bye!

Hi everyone!!!
Oh, I love autumn.
It has been a most pleasant day today, hasn’t it?
I am very glad that I am still alive.

When I opened today’s newspaper this morning, a tremendously brilliant piece of news came into my eyes. The Nobel Prize in Literature 2007 went to Doris Lessing. I was very happy about this news. I always thought that she was different, very different, as a storyteller and deserved something surprising.

Then I checked the news on the Internet. The following is the one I saw online.

The Nobel Prize in Literature 2007
Doris Lessing
The Nobel Prize in Literature for 2007 is awarded to the English writer Doris Lessing
"that epicist of the female experience, who with scepticism, fire and visionary power has subjected a divided civilisation to scrutiny".
The Swedish Academy

I read only three or four novels written by her, but the one I really like is the short story To Room 19.

The following is just a part of the short essay from http://www.planetpapers.com/Assets/5046.php

Susan Rawling, the main character in Doris Lessing’s short story “To Room 19”, fights against her inner emptiness and the roles she is supposed to play as a mother, a wife, and a house manager. This painful battle leads her to an utterly denying attitude towards her “intelligent” marriage and domestic life. In order to express this psychological process, Lessing progressively describes the different views the character has of her surroundings - such as the starkness of her white house, the big and “wild” garden, and finally “Room 19” to demonstrate how these settings influence her troublesome emotional status.

Doris Lessing is a genius in describing the darkness of a contemporary happy family life. She has a very penetrating and critical view of our society, especially family life. What is “family,” which is a long lasting question to us human species, isn’t it?

Do you have a positive opinion or negative one to “family”? If you take just a schematic observation, definitely, positive, and as social wisdom, or, everyday theory, yes, positive, but when you look into the deeper side, though it takes time, sometimes, a long time, for you to come to this point, you may say something different.

It is a very difficult question to answer, but when you read Doris Lessing stories, you will be, without noticing it, convinced that “family” is incredibly weird, which is definitely a negative opinion. It does not take a long time to reach this conclusion. That is the magical power of written language, which is, basically, literature, I suppose. I really think that she deserves the Nobel Prize in literature.

I will talk to you again tomorrow, my precious friends. I hope you are also happy about this Nobel Prize news. Goodnight…

Hello, friends.

It was really nice day today, so I went to the botanical garden near my house ,which is only 10 minutes by car, and enjoyed roses and the exhibition of flower arrangements under the clear sky with one of my best friends. I could feel refresh and got energy in the beautiful nature.

Thanks to Cherry, I'll be able to meet the director, Ms.Yamada Hisako of the movie 'Fudeko sono Ai' when I go to see it at Will Aich on Oct.20.
Mr.Kawao also encourages me to see her. So I'll be there about 12:30, so shall we meet at Will Aichi on the day? By the way who are going to see the movie?
Did anyone apply for the movie?

Plum, you are a great reader. How can you read so many books? I didn't know about Doris Lessing.
But I'm glad that Mr.Goar got Nobel Peace Prize. I was impressed by his movie'The inconvenient truth.' which urged us to take drastic measures to prevent global warming.

Hi, everyone.

Yes, it was a most pleasant day for weeding a yard. In ten square centimeter, some kinds of plants are rampant. The comptition is intense. It is unexpectedly cruel. One covers other plant to shut out the light but the victim is unexpectedly tenacious. It is die-hard. They are indulged in producing offspring.

Today, Amazon sent me a DVD titled Spongebob. It is interesting. It is a masterpiece like Tom and Jerry.

Can I ask Plum about your auditory hallucination? Do you hear it in English? Is it a stupid question? It is because everyone knows the answer.

Dear Cherry and friends,

Hello.
I had fever for a few days. On Wednesday morning, I felt bad and I thought I caught cold but I went to school. That night, the temperature was over 38 degrees. So I went to bed earlier than usual. Yesterday, I felt better. Today I feel much better. This morning, I thought I was cured because I wanted to clean my room. I wonder why I want to tidy up my room as soon as I'm cured.

Whenever I am catching a cold, I take special drink as an effective treatment or prevention. I boil minced ginger and garlic, squeezed lemon, honey, and cayenne pepper. I got this recipe from a friend of mine.

Well, lack of sleep diminishes our immune strength. I had better go to bed now.
Good night.
Have a good weekend.

Hello, everybody
I am sorry to confusing you by the last writing of mine, Cherry. The two women are not my daughters, they are my friends. Yes they are energetic persons surviving in a man-oriented society, having a job and raising children without depending on men.
Plum, I was also surprised to see the article about the Nobel Prize in Literature 2007. But to my shame I must confess that what surprised me was her age, not her name. I have never read her works but I have to, because her novels gave a great influence to Plum. Thank you for good information, Plum. Now, good night everybody. See you.

Hi, everyone!!!

How are you felling now, Alice? I hope you are completely well and fine by now.

About one month ago, I got an email from M. M. san, a senor member of our group. She said that she lost her father in August, which was such great sorrow for her, and that she went through a hard time after his death. Her mother lives near her place, but recently her mother lost her pet dog that she loved so much for 14 years, and I assume that that incident caused her another experience of sorrow. Probably her mother needs more support and care than M. M. san, but she is now trying to write a thesis for a master’s degree, which itself is extremely hard enough for her, I imagine. Now she is thinking to stay one more year at school, and I suppose it would be a wise thought, since she is suffering from a great deal of hardship at the moment. It would be too hard for her to concentrate on thesis-writing. Life is really hard, I believe.

Sorrow comes to us all when we are not ready for it, and it is extremely hard to get over our sorrowful experience. I went through enough sorrow and hardship, but I know more sorrow and hardship will come sooner or later. According to my life theory, we should train ourselves for sudden misfortune, but I know there is a limit to our strength.

It has been a lovely autumn day today. I don’t know how long this pleasant weather will last, but I hope you are enjoying it as much as I am. I did a lot of washing today, and my laundry dried up faster than usual because of this nice and sunny weather, and so I was very happy about it. It’s just a small matter, but I am happy that I was happy today. How about you? Were you happy today?

I will talk to you again tomorrow. Sleep well, and be happy tomorrow also, my precious friends. Goodnight…
