The last day of March.

Hi, everyone!

It had been raining in the morning, but getting nice in the afternoon. There were barely cherry blossoms left in the spring rain. Today is the last day of March, the end of the fiscal year. I like this season most because of its freshness. When I was a school girl, I was always nervous but excited at a beginning of school year. After graduating school, I feel envy at that way of school life.

So, see you tomorrow. Good bye.

Cherry blossoms

Hi, everyone!

Have you enjoyed this best season for cherry blossoms? I haven’t visited a special site for viewing them yet, but I can easily enjoy beautiful flowers on a neighbor street, popularly known as sakurazaka, every day. There are a lot of cherry trees along the street, shaping a long archway of flowers. I usually try walking to a supermarket through that archway in spring in order to have a nice time in my daily life. But on my way home back, I’m always tired with some heavy plastic bags because of its steep slope. Anyway, I love this street and cherry trees. What is more, I’m also CHERRY now.

Cosmos, I also like ‘mission, passion and action.’ The most important thing among them may be mission, I guess. We have only to find our own mission, and we can comfortably make progress, can’t we? But it is difficult for me to meet it…

So, see you tomorrow, good night.

The movie Doraemon

Hi, everyone!

Yesterday I sent my daughters and the younger one’s friend to a nearest movie theater to see the movie Doraemon. There were a lot of children and their parents, enjoying their spring holiday. While they were watching it, I went around a super market and some shops next to that theater. After the movie, we got McDonald’s burgers, took some purikura, and bought several pretty stationeries. They were very excited the whole day.
I was exhausted from taking care of them, but just looking at their cheerfulness made me happy. I wonder how many years do I have such hectic days. I feel just a little sad when I imagine them as a grown woman.

So, see you later. Good bye.

The memorable day

Hi, everyone!

Plum, I just hope that you have a nice trip in England!

Today, 25 March, is the memorable day for me. At the very day of last year, I could fortunately attend the lesson for the essay in English for the first time. I felt a little nervous at that time because I had never directly seen Plum. The members who joined that meeting were Magnolia, Azalea, Peach, Yuko-san, Yasuko-san and me. Plum gave us a lot of important lesson for the Aichi seminar and essay writing. I was greatly shocked and impressed by her detailed guidance; moreover, by her passionate feelings. I had never met such teachers.

Now, it is just one year since I met her. I am very happy about it, firmly believing that the encounter with Plum and her members is a turning point in my life. I thank plum from the bottom of my heart. I also thank all of you.

So, see you later, good bye!

The outlet park

Hi, everyone!

Azalea, long time no see! I feel so sorry about your pain. You must have been very busy these days. Please take care of you.

Today my family and I went to the outlet park in Nagashima for the first time. Though a lot of people were gathering there, we could enjoy that exotic atmosphere. There were so many shops there that we only went here and there, bought nothing at all, and got back to our house. My kids wanted to go to the hot spring next to the outlet, but their father didn’t agree with them.

So, see you tomorrow. Good night.

Shiroyama hachimangu

Hi, everyone!

Do you usually take the Asahi newspaper? This morning I found an interesting article in its Saturday supplement. There was a photo of a big tree I have seen somewhere before. That article runs the story on an enmusubi no ki in Shiroyama, Nagoya. Oh! It’s the big tree in Shiroyama hachimangu, where we always pass along on the way to Plum’s house. The reason why it is introduced in the paper is that today is the first anniversary of a famous writer Saburo Shiroyama’s death. It seems that he named his pen name after this place. Wow! I have known his name but never read such a story. I wonder where he lived there. I think there must have been the special place for him.

So, see you tomorrow. Good night.

After school

HI, everyone!

I make a correction:
The rapidness of children’s growth always surprises me.

Alice, I’m also happy to hear about one of the brightest moments in your life. I can’t imagine how much you have worked to reach your destination.

At almost noon, a friend of my older daughter, Yui-chan, who lives in the same apartment, came to my house after school. She said she didn’t have her own key so couldn’t enter at the front door into her house. I knew her mother would be away for work until evening and her sister also couldn’t get back early because of her school club. I welcomed her into my house and got children’s lunch ready. Unfortunately, I am not a good cook. I made a sort of an omelette containing stir-fried rice for them. I felt sorry for Yui-chan.
Anyway, after lunch, they enjoyed their long free time outside the house, basking the warm spring sunshine. Yes, it was just a heaven-like sunlight.

So, see you tomorrow. Good night.

A graduation ceremony

Hi, everyone!

It has been a little cold rainy day today. There was a graduation ceremony at my kids’ school this morning, and my older daughter attended it as a student of the school. I heard through the window the farewell song hotaruno hikari, which made me sentimental. I will certainly have the day when my daughter would graduate from elementary school next year. The rapidness of children’s growth is always surprised me.

So, see you tomorrow. Good night.

Suga Kanno

Hi, everyone!

Last Monday I went to Plum’s house to complete my essay. I have fortunately received a lot of precious lessons from her for about one month. Though the essay hasn’t been finished yet, it has really started to take shape. It’s thanks to Plum, of course. She gently talked to me, ‘You should write your entire essay by yourself this year, all right?’ In addition to this, she gave advice to me about a new theme of essay, Suga Kanno. I found it is very interesting for me to learn a lot of women’s lives in the Meiji and Taisho period. But it is also difficult to write an essay in English. I feel my brain has been dragged for an idea. I need a smarter brain…sigh.

So, see you tomorrow. Good night.

At a used-book store

Hi, everyone!

Plum, I understand your difficulties and reformation about the position of your lap top PC. Because I used to work a desk top PC before, and now a lap top one. In addition to this, I use it on the same desk. So, I feel I get tired easily these days. I, too, must think about the position of my PC.

This afternoon, my kids and I went to a used-book store to sell some books after a long time interval. While looking for something interesting, I came upon a magazine for kids’ learning English published by Alc. When I glance casually at the cover of it, there was a photograph of your face on it, Plum! I was pleasantly surprised to see you. That magazine was published on November 2002, and there was the special interview, in which you told how to improve English for all mothers. What a lucky coincidence. What is more, today was a sale day for all magazines. I was happy to get it and some other magazines.

So, see you tomorrow. Good night.

A new dentist

HI, everyone!

This afternoon I went to a dentist to clean my teeth. Two weeks ago, the filling in my back tooth came out, and I tried to see this new dentist. The reason is because my regular dentist couldn’t get along with me these days. Fortunately, new one had considerable technical skill, I think, and some dental hygienists were also careful workers. I’ve satisfied with the result.

Plum, I’m always deeply grateful to you. My goal must be far, far away, and I can’t reach that place, I feel. It is important, but difficult for me to maintain motivation for learning English. Thanks to all of you, this Blog made me the courage to make progress. Thank you very much.

So, it’s time to break. See you tomorrow, good night.

A miso dressing

Hi, everyone!

It was another warm day today, wasn’t it? When I heard the forecast of cherry blossoming times on TV news today, I could feel the coming of spring. Now the only thing we hope is that the pollen flower would disappear…

By the way, do you usually eat a miso dressing, Tsuketemiso kaketemiso? I had never got it, because of my hesitation. But the other day, I was interested with it after watching a TV program that introduced how to eat it. On that program, some residents of Aichi Prefecture put the dressing on every food, even sashimi, before eating it. I couldn’t believe it, but it was a little bit attractive scene. So, finally I got it and tried it with some croquettes this evening…. Oh, it’s nice, tasty. I like it. Now I, too, have become a Nagoya jin.

So, see you tomorrow. Good night.

How to write an essay

Hi, everyone!

This morning I went to Plum’s house to check my essay. Though she had a lot to do at work, she taught me very kindly how to write an essay again and again. I think I shouldn’t have tried it with my poor English… Anyway, I must improve one.

Now, I’m going to watch the last episode of my favorite TV drama, Desperate housewives.
So, see you later. Good night.

Spring sunshine

Hi, everyone!

Alice, I’ve remembered the presence of the sign of Nikken farm, because that farm was a big one. But I can’t recollect the detail of it. Did your father or mother paint it? Along the road to Irago, there were several melon and strawberry farms. I’d like to visit the farm of ‘all-you-can-eat’ melon next time!

It has been nice and warm today, hasn’t it? I felt so comfortable in the spring sunshine.
Plum, I hope you are getting well. I’m going to see you tomorrow morning, and I’m afraid my essay would tire you.

The other day, I got the book Meiji jidaikan on the advice of Plum. It has a lot of photographs and graphics about the Meiji period, which tells me the structure of Japan.
Fukuzawa Yukichi also appears on it. I should watch it to learn more about the era.

So, see you later. Good night.

Early spring

HI, everyone!

Congratulations, Alice! I, too, am proud of being one of your friends, and your great work will stimulate me to work harder.

Yesterday my family and I went to an outing to a strawberry farm in Tahara city. It was a warm, comfortable day, and we could have a fantastic time there. It took about two hours to get there by car. The farm we put in an advance order was a tiny vinyl plastic hothouse, and there were a lot of beautiful red strawberries in it. Since my kids had never been to such farm, they were very excited. But most enthusiastic one in eating it was me; I ate 40 strawberries in 30 minutes. How greedy! I got so many fruits there that I couldn’t have a lunch.

After that, we went to Irago, and enjoyed the magnificent view of the Pacific. We also climbed to the observatory. On the way home, some lovely rape fields delighted our eyes.
We could take pleasure in early spring in the Atsumi Peninsula.

So, see you tomorrow. Good night.

The Kochi city

Hi, everyone!

Plum, you are having busy days, and I’m afraid I’ve set you the extra work. I hope you will be able to relieve your fatigue with your beloved family in Oita.

This afternoon, I phoned the Kochi city office to ask about some details on political activities in the Meiji period, because Plum instructed me to do it yesterday. At first, a woman in the gender equality section attended to me, and said that she would call back after checking them. After a half an hour, the person in charge of the jiyu minken kinenkan called me back, and taught me them in detail. I found that Kochi was an important place in minken undo, where attracted a lot of interest in those days.

Magnolia, your plan sounds nice, doesn’t it!? I’d like to go, but I can’t. Have a good trip!

So, see you tomorrow. Good night.

Information shortage

Hi, everyone!

This morning I went to Plum’s house to check my essay. As Plum mentioned, I found the serious information shortage in my research. She recommended a good book for a general study of the Meiji era. In order to write an essay about the period, she said, we should grasp the contents of the book whole. I have already ordered it. Anyway, thanks to Plum’s detailed instruction, I can manage to move the essay forward.

So, see you tomorrow. Good night.

The presidential campaign

Hi, everyone!

Plum, I also can’t believe your strange experience. Does the Mango juice have a magical power? Or you must have been very tired that day, I guess.

This afternoon I was watching the TV news of the presidential campaign in Texas and Ohio. Until now there were several remarkable days, and every newscaster said, ‘It is the climax on the election.’ each time. I wondered when this tough race would end, and if two of them could run for the main election. Thanks to such excited race, I can get some technical terms such as presidential primary, delegate, endorsement, and the name of the states, too.

So, see you later. Good night.

The hina dolls

Hi, everyone!

Plum, thank you for your detailed guidance of Bleak house. It seems complicated for me, but I think it must be an exciting story.

Alice, thank you for your help to learn easily. Your quick response always makes us happy.

This afternoon I put away the hina dolls, a pair of Emperor and Empress. When I was a young girl, my mother told me that daughters ended up unmarried unless their parents put the dolls away as soon as possible. Now it may be a superstition, and in some region people display it until the end of March.

So, see you later. Good night.

In Spring

Hi, everyone!

I usually clean up my house by a vacuum cleaner on Monday morning. Though there are tiny rooms in my house, I don’t like cleaning. Especially in spring, the floor becomes dusty. I’m going to get a pair of slippers with a floorcloth on the sole.

This morning I received an interesting paperback I have ordered a week ago. That title is Feminism in modern Japan written by Vera Mackie. Last year I heard her name from Plum under instruction for our essay. At first, I was surprised by its detailed glossary and bibliography. It seems valuable for me.
So, see you tomorrow. Good night.

The fantastic party

Hi, everyone!

What a fantastic party you had today!!
Unfortunately I couldn’t attend the meeting, but I can easily imagine that you could enjoy some friendly, wonderful time. Under the invaluable direction of Plum, all of you have made efforts for a long time. I think it is really difficult for me to write correctly even one sentence in English. I regard you with great respect, dear friends!

I’m happy to hear your kind comment, Alice. I just set this Blog on Plum’s advice, and we are now all important players. I believe firmly that our Plum’s group is one of the most excellent groups in learning English. I’d like to improve my English so as to follow you.

So, see you tomorrow, good night.
