It was another warm day today, wasn’t it? When I heard the forecast of cherry blossoming times on TV news today, I could feel the coming of spring. Now the only thing we hope is that the pollen flower would disappear…
By the way, do you usually eat a miso dressing, Tsuketemiso kaketemiso? I had never got it, because of my hesitation. But the other day, I was interested with it after watching a TV program that introduced how to eat it. On that program, some residents of Aichi Prefecture put the dressing on every food, even sashimi, before eating it. I couldn’t believe it, but it was a little bit attractive scene. So, finally I got it and tried it with some croquettes this evening…. Oh, it’s nice, tasty. I like it. Now I, too, have become a Nagoya jin.

It is Friday, March 12. It is raining and it will be rainy all day. Yesterday I went to Plum’. She inspires me as she always does. I’ve got al lot of homework. Even though I was requested beyond my ability, I’m afraid, I feel OK, even joy. Why? Because Masa Nakayama is such a mysterious person that I find it interesting to study. It’s the Persians who had a version of the proverb that went “He or she who wants a rose must respect the thorn,” and I have to say I agree. Thorn is, of course, the essay writing. Well, I’d like to write about the clinical thermometer. I asked Mario about it. He said the difference between Japanese one and American ones is its indication. Theirs shows Fahrenheit, ours Celsius. In Tuesday morning I had a job as an interpreter at Mariott Asosia Hotel where there were 45 travel agents from Europe, Asia and Australia. It was a 'VISIT JAPAN by way of Centrair' promotion campaign which was broadcast on TV news of NHK and CBC.
Luckily my client was a Chinese from Hong Kong who can speak 3 lunguages: Kantonese, English and Japanese.
It was my first job for JTB and they appointed me for an easy position. At first I thought I was lucky becauseI didn't have to translate during DVD. Then I asked my client which he preferred speaking English or Japanese.
He answered 'Japanese.'He told me that he graduated from a Japanese University and he'd like to speak Japanese, so I had nothing to do except listening to his speech, which was a sort of agony for me because JTB staff came to check many times.
For 3 hours, 6 groups including Aichi, Mie, Gifu, Toyama prefectural office
and some hotels came to have a business talk with my client and I could only speak a word of 'cormorant fishing.'In the end a guy from Mie prefecture said to me ironically, " Good job, interpreter.Otsukaresama"
After that job I had hives or nettle rash. Maybe it's because of mental fatigue.

It has been wet all day today, hasn’t it?
I went out to my bank to get some US dollars this afternoon, since the US dollar weakened and broke the line of 100 yen. Actually I have been waiting for this exchange rate opportunity for almost three years, and I am very pleased that I could grasp this moment.
What have I been doing this week? Well, I have been quite busy for the past few days. I went out to see my gynecologist on Tuesday, and on my way home I passed by a flower shop where a number of spring flowers were displayed. Among them geraniums with large flowers and a lot of buds looked so gorgeous, and I could not resist the beauty and bought several pots of geranium. I asked the shop to deliver them, but I was told that I had to pay additional 500 yen for the service, and so I carried the bags home. Oh, they were quite heavy, weren’t they? After I got home, I planted them in my flowerbed. They are so cute and pretty. I love them a lot.
On Wednesday Cherry came to my place to discuss her essay and brought some critical information with her, which was fantastic to me. Her essay has been improving, and I feel great about it. I just hope Cherry could learn how to write English essays so that she could write an essay just by herself this year. Maybe, she could be admitted to a graduate school some day in the future and if she has to write a thesis she will be able to do so in English. That is fascinating, isn’t it?
On Thursday Peach called on me to talk about her essay. I know how hard she has been struggling to write her essay. It seems especially difficult for her to collect sufficient knowledge and information so that she could easily or comfortably organize bits and pieces in the construction of her essay. Also it seems hard for her to be well informed of academic English necessary to essay writing. I was like her when I started my grad studies, and so I can completely understand her worries and concern.
By the way, do you like Russian tea? I do a lot. I normally put a spoonful of Harrods strawberry jam in very hot Fortnum and Mason tea and stir it a couple of times. Brilliant taste!!! I’m just a tea junkie, aren’t I? Russian tea is outrageously delightful and stunning on rainy days like today. It definitely brightens your heart and mind. Try it, ladies.
Tomorrow I will go grocery shopping with my husband. It’s gonna be a big shopping day…, ‘cause we have so much to buy… such as detergent, cooking oil, soy sauce, toilet rolls, boxes of tissue, etc. etc., necessary goods for our daily lives.

Hello. How are you?
Yesterday, I got phone calls from two people. Two of them had some urgent business to see to. So I helped them right away. I hope I was useful.
Yesterday morning, I got an e-mail from my teacher at university. He suggested that I should rewrite the thesis to submit it to a certain conference abroad. Translation is not enough for this project. That means my raw thesis is not suitable for the conference. I was advised to change the title. Because of this change, I have to change quite a large portion of the content. I don't know I would be qualified to give a paper presentation but I'll give it a try.
