Hi, everyone!
It had been raining in the morning, but getting nice in the afternoon. There were barely cherry blossoms left in the spring rain. Today is the last day of March, the end of the fiscal year. I like this season most because of its freshness. When I was a school girl, I was always nervous but excited at a beginning of school year. After graduating school, I feel envy at that way of school life.
So, see you tomorrow. Good bye.

Dear Cherry and friends,
Hello. How are you?
Late last night I came back from Osaka. As I wrote here last week, I had been in Osaka for 5 days. My friend's house is near Minoh Park which is a quasi-national park. On Saturday, her family and I visited the park and walked along a river which led to the Minoh Falls. Yesterday, we left children and her husband at home and went shopping to Namba. There is a big complex at Namba. I got a tunic and a shirt.
While we were at home, kids kept asking me to play origami or cards. I thought they were too demanding. I had to order them to be quiet and let me have time to read a bit. I didn't want to scold my friend's kids, but my friend advised me to just ignore them when I want to do so. That's why I had time to be alone a few hours in the afternoon. I shut the door of my room and pretended I was reading or sleeping. The small one took a nap every afternoon. I enjoyed quiet time for a while.
I enjoyed playing with kids, too. One day, we went to the Instant Ramen Museum in Ikeda by train. My friend and I watched kids draw pictures on a ramen cup and make a “my instant ramen.” On our way home, we dropped by a restaurant called “Momofuku” and ate ramen noodles. Momofuku Ando is the founder of Nisshin. He invented Chicken Noodles.
It's time to go to sleep.
Good night.
Hello, Cherry and my dear friends.
Welcome back to Nagoya, Alice. Your story of Minoh Park reminded me of my childhood. I used to live in Toyonaka city in Osaka until I was sixteen. So I had often been there. I walked along the river to get to the Minoh fall with my family. Minoh Park was really a good hiking course and it was famous for its maple trees. I remembered eating crispy Momiji no tempura, maple tempira. Did you still see numerous Japanese monkeys? I think it has changed a lot because of development of land for housing.
Cosmos, thank you for an episode of your bold friend who cooked and ate dumped cans of soup.
Her behavior was very unique. It took courage to take up cans of soup from garbage bags on public roads. Yet,she was a sensible person. She checked the quality of cans. They had brand-name cans of soup. The most important thing was their use-by-date but she examined it perfectly.
I think she is brave enough to serve them for her family because she was sure food were safe.
If I were in her position, I might do the same thing. If I were her husband, I would get angry with her reckless behavior. In the end I can understand her feeling and at the same time I can share his.
Hello, Cherry and friends
Welcome back to this blog, Alice. I am always impressed with your extensive friendship all over Japan, oh, no, all over the world. What a happy life you have lived! Friends are precious treasure and pleasure.
By the way, you mentioned about Momofuku Ando, didn’t you, Alice? I happened to see his son, who is the president of Nisshin Shokuhin now, on the TV interview program. He said that his father, the well-known inventor of instant ramen, had lived long and died at the age of 94. Many people said that instant ramen was not good for health. Momofuku always refuted this criticism strongly. He convinced that ramen wasn’t bad. He often said, “I have 20 cup-noodles everyday and live long healthy. I am a living proof of rightness of instant ramen.” He was a very unique man who concentrated single-mindedly on making better instant-ramen. In a sense he was a man keeping on pursuing his own dream. I remember that I haven’t have a cup-noodle for a long time. The program stimulated my appetite. I’ll buy it tomorrow.
Have a good dream. Good night, everybody.A
Dear Cherry and friends,
It is April 1st. It is clear and dry. Yesterday I went to a florist and bought some flowers. There I found the same kind of flowers planted in Plum's. I immediately decided to get one pot. I'll take good care of it. I also bought Chirstmas Rose, which I have eagered to get. They made a small discount for it.
Today I watched a wonderful TV program, "Syumi-yu-yu" or Enjoy Hobbies from 10:30 a.m.to 11:10a.m. I do recommend you this program. An actor and painter, Enomoto Takaaki, who is one of my favorate actors and Madoka Mayuzumi, a Haiku poet travel along Basho's Okunohosomichi. Matsushima is one of the three scenic spots in Japan, but I never visited there. Basho wrote that he wanted to see the moon in Matsushima. The program has 9-day broadcast from Monday to Friday except April 9th. Thank you.
Hello, friends.
Thank you for your praise or a compliment, cosmos.
I always admire your hospitality for us. We can continue English study as well as our friendships at your house which is the very comfortable place because of you.
I greatly appreciate your kindness.
Alice, I envy you. I have had only one experience to stay at my friend's house and I've never put others up at my house, which I think troublesome.
I thought that people couldn't have such an intimate friendship or relations to stay each other.
But you could do it even for 5 days, marvelous!. It might be because of your friendly character.
You are relied on very much and easy to ask for their children's care. You are supposed to be the best friend of hers. By the way, friends, how many best friends do you have?
Dear Cherry and friends,
Hello. How are you?
I'm having a can of sparkling liquor tonight. It tastes like beer.
Its label says, “Not for sale.” Yesterday my mother got two cans for free when she went shopping.
Magnolia, you gave us a good question.
Good questions are always difficult to answer.
I can't count how many best friends. I have many good friends like you. I can stay at some friends' houses. If you're asking me the number of friends whose house I can stay, I would answer 3. Two of them have stayed at my place, too. And each of them has a generous husband. This is an important point. Although I have good friends who are single, I have never visited their houses. They live with their parents.
Some friends kindly say that I can stay at their house some day, but I can't always recognize whether it is just a greeting or not. I feel so especially when they are newly married.
On Monday, I met a woman who teaches essay writing in Japanese. She proofread my Japanese writing about Miss Payne. She did an excellent job and gave a lot of comments and advice. She also find a website from the Japanese CMS headquarter. According to its newsletter, a woman gave presentation at a conference held last spring about Miss Payne's footsteps after her retirement. This information might demean my finding so she said it's crucial to find out what she talked about at the conference. I should have checked this before writing the essay. Therefore, I called the CMS headquarter yesterday afternoon. A man who was in charge of filing documents was in the office and promised me to contact the woman and send me information as soon as he gets some. I was lucky. This guy is in the office once a week. Yesterday was the day.
The woman who proofread my writing has her own business. When a local institute held a business plan contest, her business plan was chosen among best 20 or so. Unfortunately, she couldn't win money for the prize at that time. She said recycling business was the winner.
She edits others' writings, teaches how to write, and transcribes tapes. It cost me 30,000 yen to have 18 pages of writing paper corrected. Each page had 400 squares.
Now I have to translate my thesis.
Talk to you soon.
Hi, Cherry and friends,
It is April 3rd. Sunny, later cloudy. This month I'm going to talk about a place as much as I can. Let me write about Alaska. My sister's dream is to see an aurora. On March 27, she left for Alaska with his son. Luckly, they saw it and I enjoyed the pictures. The color of an aurora in the pictures shows greenish white. They are told to put a flashlight under their chins during being taken in the picture with aurora. It was as if the person is giving out an aurora. It is spiritual enough to imagine something beyond human power. Thank you. I'll write again.
