Suga Kanno

Hi, everyone!

Last Monday I went to Plum’s house to complete my essay. I have fortunately received a lot of precious lessons from her for about one month. Though the essay hasn’t been finished yet, it has really started to take shape. It’s thanks to Plum, of course. She gently talked to me, ‘You should write your entire essay by yourself this year, all right?’ In addition to this, she gave advice to me about a new theme of essay, Suga Kanno. I found it is very interesting for me to learn a lot of women’s lives in the Meiji and Taisho period. But it is also difficult to write an essay in English. I feel my brain has been dragged for an idea. I need a smarter brain…sigh.

So, see you tomorrow. Good night.

Hi, ladies!!!
It’s Wednesday today, and it has been wet most of the day, hasn’t it?
I really understand how angry your father was when he knew that his design was stolen. It’s very bad to use somebody’s original ideas, designs, or literary works without getting any permission from him or her. They are creations and the fruits of creators' toil, aren’t they? It’s plagiarism, and plagiarism is a kind of crime and plagiarizers are criminals. Horrible, isn’t it?

Yesterday I got a phone call from one of my non-Japanese friends. He asked me how I had been doing, and I said that I had been dead from mid-September to the end of January but came back from the dead. He said that it was impossible theoretically, although he could understand how I was feeling during that time. Nonetheless he insisted that I should’ve said that I was almost dead. That’s OK. It’s not a big deal, is it? Once I was dead but now I am alive. Of course, strange and weird, but that’s the perfect expression to me.

This afternoon I got a coupon for my flight tickets to London. Wow, I’m gonna fly to London without any stop, and it’ll take 12 hours and 45 minutes to get to the airport in London. I will just take a couple of tablets for cold so as to go to sleep during the flight.

Just one workman came to install a new floor in the sunroom (I expected more than one), and he was perfectly efficient and finished his work at around 3. I am very happy about the new floor. It’s great!!!

Well, I hope all of you are having a lovely Wednesday evening. Talk to you again tomorrow, my precious friends. Night, night!!!

Dear Cherry and friends,

Hello. How have you been these days?
It's still raining. Not very strongly, though.

Plum, thank you for giving me a sympathetic message. Plagiarism seems to agree to our case. We're thinking about making a separate price list for designing.

Yesterday, I watched last 30 minutes of the Japanese drama, “Ashitano Kita Yoshio” to find out if he would commit suicide or not at the end. Two days ago, I suppose, I read a critique about the drama. It was in a newspaper. The paper regularly carries criticisms about dramas currently being aired on TV. I had never wanted to watch a drama after reading criticisms that appeared on the page, but the critique of “Ashitano Kita Yoshio” interested me. In this article, two people talked about the drama and both were also interested in the final decision that would be made by Kita Yoshio.

When I turned on the TV, Kita Yoshio was walking toward a house built just beside a cliff. He climbed up to the top of the chimny. Then, he called negative voice which usually came out of himself and asked the negative self inside him to show up and wished the other himself would push his body into the water. Just under his sight was waves breaking on the rocks.
At the moment, a young guy who made friends with Kita hurried to the spot and convinced him not to dive into the water.

Since then, he started new days. He really appreciated new tomorrows he would experience from then on. Perhaps, the world completely looked different from his standpoint, although everything around him hadn't changed a bit. Such sight may be visible to those who have faced a devastating situation. Plum's comment inspired me to write about this drama.

Hope it'll be fine tomorrow.
Have a nice holiday.

Dear Cherry and friends,

It is Wednesday, March 19. It rained in the morning. In the afternoon we had a light rain. Today I dropped in at a coffee shop near Takakura High School. It is the same place where we talked over coffee when the Aichi seminar is over. Plum, I missed you because you were in Australia at that time. I talked with a master today. He is a very interesting and charming man. I was interested in what he had said. He said that there are less and less young people who are daydreaming, chatting or discussing. Some are using mobiles, some are listening to music. Even though they come in a group, they seldom talk to each other. The coffee shop used to be a special place not only serving coffee but also giving an opportunity where people converse. He pointed out American ways have influenced Japanese young people. In Europe culture of discussion in a place like pubs does exist. Talking with the coffee shop owner was really comfortable to me. I can’t exactly say visiting a coffee shop means a sort of culture, but it certainly gives me a different point of view. Thank you.
